Whose factory is it?

E-mail Print
It was evident in Parliament today that even the government members were not properly aware of subjects and institutions coming under each ministry.

It was visible in the House when ruling party MP from the Ratnapura district Ranjith de Zoisa asked a question from the State Resources and Enterprise Development Minister.

In his question, the MP asked about the closure of the Tile Factory situated in Kirimetihena in the Ratnapura district, denying employment to many persons.
Minister Anton Dayasritha Tissera who replied said that it did not come under his Ministry at all. Then,   Mr. Zoisa asked who the responsible minister was. None of the government ministers was able to reveal it at the moment.

Opposition MPs were seen elated after seeing the government members embarrassed over the situation. (KB & YP)

We are the fools, who elected these criminals to rule the country. As long as, we continue the present constitution, there will be no prosperity in Sri Lanka.

This is what happens when there is a Jumbo cabinet with most of the Ministers not knowing what their subjects are. Typical of this government.

It is only in Sri Lanka that subject ministers can frequently use the excuse of ignorance. In other places it is the responsibility of the subject minister to know everything regarding the subject he is responsible for. They wouldn't say "I don't know" without expecting calls for resignation.

Given the amount of stuff these "subject" ministers don't know, is it a surprise they don't know what enterprises fall under their ministries?
