Film to clear all doubts ;Army

E-mail Print
The Army Commander Jagath Jayasuriya said today that the reason behind the film that is to be produced by the Army on the death of Prabhakarans is to provide answers to the questions that have been raised in the new documentary released by Channel 4.

Addressing troops in Vavuniya today the Army Chief “Many people have asked me the question as to why there is such a hurry about a film about Prabhakarans death. In order to clear all doubts that have surfaced in this regard the army decided to produce a documentary that would portray the true picture of what exactly happened during the last stages of the conflict.

The Commander went on to point out that Channel 4 failed to address any issue that was raised in the documentary titled ‘Lies agreed upon’ released by the government. “We have already responded to the fist documentary put out by Channel 4 and we believe we countered them successfully. In the second video Channel 4 has failed to address any of the issues that we raised and therefore its concoction of the truth is clear” he said. (Daily Mirror Online)

Lt. Gen. Jayasuriya, Sir, I am sincerely hoping this film clears at least some issues. As a human being it was very difficult for me to watch the Channel-4 films. The mere thought of our solders who we respected so much, loved so much, would be capable of those horrible things, literally brought tears to our eyes. ‘Lies agreed upon’ did some much needed damage control but I expected more. So, I am really looking forward to the Army countering the C4 films.

Is it reasonable only for Channel 4 and LTTE Diaspora to make fabricatated stories against Sri Lanka even now?

these ppl were in somber whi;le the diaspora was busy gathering video evidence and matters so related... All what the top army peronal did was to to enjoy perks and political appointments... some as ammbasodors,, while the no 1 person who was instrumental in defeating the terrorists is languishing in jail... Most of the current top army personnel betrayed SF just so they get the perks n appoinments.

Normally in present day war media unit of the Army accompanies the troops, hence there is no need to produce a film, just unroll the video clips of actual happenings during the last stages of the war then we could see

Has ARMY taken over Film industry too. Such movies need to made by an independent credible personalitties... Not to be one sided.. Yes, can certainly fool the maases.. for another term in power

Unprofessional approach! Just the srilankan way of handling a problem that is raised to international level. We lack people to handle complicated affairs.

Ch 4 Documentary was a fabrication of a bunch of lies. It was obvious to any decent reporter. It was not a documentary but cut and paste unauthenticated film clips of the war to make the S/L Armed forces look bad. This is the work of the collaborators who get paid by the defeated LTTE supporters in the west. Why didn't Ch4 go to Jaffna and interview real tamils who suffered and was liberated by the S/L armed forces?
