A sum of Rs.61.5 million had been spent for the exhibition centre of the ‘Deyata Kirula’ Exhibition 2012 in Anurdhapura while several millions had been spent for the water supply facilities, Parliament was informed yesterday.

This was revealed in the report on the supplementary allocation which was presented to the House by the Chief Government Whip Dinseh Gunawardene yesterday.

The Government also sought the approval for the allocation of a further Rs.7 million for the Deyata Kirula Exhibition Center as recurrent exhibition.

Meanwhile it was also revealed that Rs.1 million had been sought by the Department of External Resources to meet the expenditure of printing documents that were submitted to Parliament along with the Budget Speech 2012.

The Ministry of External Affairs had sought an allocation of Rs.6.5 million to meet the expenditure related to the 33rd Annual Forum of Parliamentarians for Global Action that was held in Sri Lanka from October 28 to 30, 2011.

Supplementary allocations have also been made for the purchasing of vehicles for various ministries and other government institutions. Accordingly allocations were sought to purchase vehicles for the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Minor Crop Promotion, the Auditor General’s Department, the Ministry of Education, and for the vehicle rental for the Department of National Budget. Funds were also sought for the payment of salaries of various ministries and institutions. (Yohan Perera)
