A section of the protesters who were gathered in front of the court complex in Hulftsdorp urging the government to free former Army Chief Sarath Fonseka are now marching towards the Welikada Prison where the former Army Commander is currently being held, sources say. Protest organiser and DNA parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said that the leaders are currently on their way to the prison complex.

"A section of the protesters are marching towards to the Welikada prison complex where the General is currently being held," he said. Herath stated that a section of the UNP MPs also participated in the protest, “UNP MPs including Karu Jayasuriya, Sajith Premadasa and Ranjan Ramanayake participated in our protest to release General Sarath Fonseka," he said.
