UNP, DNA join hands in protest

E-mailPrint
The UNP Parliamentarians have joined hands with the DNA and the Movement to Restore Democracy in their protest to free former Army Chief Sarath Fonseka. DNA parliamentarians Arjuna Ranatunga, Vijitha Herath, the wife of the former Army Commander Anoma Fonseka together with Karu Jayasuriya, Sajith Premadasa and a host of other UNP parliamentarians are seen converged together and shouting slogans in front of the Supreme Court car park.

Earlier the UNP said they had not been invited for the scheduled protest and said that they would carry on a different protest to urge the government to release the former Army Commander and common presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka. (Hafeel Farisz)

Protests should be unrelenting. However strong a protest; if it is not continued it would be futile. That's what happened in the Maldives. They continuously protested on the streets for the release of a jailed criminal court judge, and it resulted not only in the release of that judge but also the fall of the President.
