No apology from Tamil Nadu yet

E-mailPrint
The state government of Tamil Nadu is yet to tender an apology to the Sri Lankan authorities over the inconvenience caused by the boycott of certain Sri Lankan products by a state undertaking in Chennai recently, officials said today.

An official of Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commission in India told the Daily Mirror that one state-run undertaking of Tamil Nadu had boycotted a stock of confectionaries and biscuits manufactured in Sri Lanka.

However, the official said that it was an isolated incident, and therefore, Sri Lanka hoped it would not be repeated.

“This is not even noteworthy when compared to the magnitude of trade in India. The authorities of this company brought the matter to our notice. The total value of our products was Rs.4,000. We raised the issue with the state government of Tamil Nadu. We also informed our mission in New Delhi,” he said.

He said that the incident is not a politically motivated one.

“Only a certain group is involved. We hope it will not be repeated,” he said.

Asked whether Tamil Nadu regretted the incident, he said that no such formal apology had been tendered to Sri Lanka. (Kelum Bandara)

The Tamilnadu State is not an entity of Sri Lanka, to tender an apology and Sri Lanka should talk to the Central Govt. of India direct. This attitude of Sri Lanka will be construed as interfering in the internal affairs of an Indian State by the GOSL

This is a good lesson for the Tamil politicians who seek sympathy from Tamil Nadu. They will sell the sovereignty of the Island to Tamil Nadu instead of Other products.
