Unable to find any trace of missing dissidents: Govt.

E-mailPrint

The government said in Parliament yesterday the police had been unable to find any trace about the two JVP dissidents who disappeared in Jaffna recently despite the deployment of four teams for the investigation. The incident took place on December 9, 2011.

Quoting a report sent by IGP Ilangokoon, Leader of the House Nimal Siripala de Silva said that statements had been recorded from ten persons in this regard, but none had given any important hint to pursue investigations in the positive direction.

He said that the police were looking for such valuable information with regard to the incident from anyone.

“According to the police report, it is yet to be ascertained whether they have been abducted. Or else, it is to be ascertained whether they have gone into hiding. There are no eyewitness accounts. Nobody knows what happened,” he said. (Kelum Bandara)

Simple. Check with the white van operators. Surprisingly the Minister did not sttate that these two persons had sought asylum in some foreign country just like our former AG said in an international forum.

You shouldn't have made a statement like this in parliament. This is good for election platform.
