UNP MPs booted

By Indika Sri Aravinda

The UNP membership of UNP Assistant General Secretary Lakshman Seneviratna and MP Earl Gunasekera has been cancelled, UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe told reporters a short while ago.

Seniviratna and Gunasekera were among six UNP members who crossed over to the government after supporting the 18th Amendment to the constitution. Wickremesinghe said that the UNP disciplinary committee will look into the conduct of the remaining UNP MPs who joined the government.

Wickremesinghe also said that party reforms are underway and cannot be completed in a day. The UNP leader noted that it will take time for the reforms process to be completed and dismissed allegations that the reforms proposals were being sidelined.

He said that young UNP MPs will be given key roles under the reforms. (Daily Mirror online)

This is another "time buying" tactic adopted by RW.
He has become a failure. Good decision by the 25 UNP MPs. I think even Karu and Ravi k should be independent MPs.

Sajith should be the leader.

Ranil may not be the best leader, but Sajith??? If not Ranil, Karu should be the leader. Sajith does not have the depth to perform the duties of an opposition leader.

I don't know about earl, but lakshman seneviratne has to be shown the door. of all UNP traitors, he was the worst kind. during war he was an ardent supporter of SF and then betrayed him in the most treacherous manner for a helicopter joyride.

But they will go to Courts and sit with govt like all others before them. Mockery of justice to the people. These are the things that the Constitution must address to protect voters rights as they were voted in by UNP voters who have been let down by these unscrupulous rascals.

Ultimately Ranil is the winner. Everyone else have shouted in vain.

If majority of members claim ownership of the party's legality then the court will have to decide whom to entrust the party to. There is no party without members.

Well done sir. This is the language they can understand. Real UNP supporters always need your tactical leadership. We value it. Drive the country to the right direction. We are strongly behind you... People who cry for a change in leadership have no personalty in building the country. The leadership is NOT mouth. It is the brain, and the democratic values.

We can't make heads or tails of your actions. It is high time to wake away not only from the party leadership, but also from the entire politics. Let those two lousy frogs to be on the president lap and one day he or the people will throw them away to the dustbin of the political history.

any one think about changing ranil should know there is no one to challenge the H.E. MR in the party. if SF could not do this during the war mentality time period (could not defeat the H.E. MR) do you think any one do it? Sajith is a peanut for the H.E. MR and his Bros
