The United Kingdom has updated its travel advisory on Sri Lanka by removing the advise against travel to the four northern provinces of Mullaitivu, Killinochchi, Mannar and Vavuniya.

The British High Commission in a statement said that the advice follows a security assessment carried out by a High Commission delegation, led by Deputy High Commissioner Mark Gooding, which visited the Northern provinces in June.

Commenting on the changes British High Commissioner, Dr Peter Hayes said, “This latest change means we no longer advise against travel to any part of Sri Lanka.  Britons wishing to travel to the north should be aware that there remains a risk from mines and unexploded ordinance and that they need to obtain permission from the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence before they travel.” (Daily Mirror online)

MR would not have done it without a force of 300,000 soldiers. The soldiers would not have done it without adequate arms and intelligence supplied by China, Pakistan, Israel, Russia, India and Vietnam. Arms cannot be procured without money from the general public. So dude you can see where MR's contibution lies now.

Hi Spark
All those resources were there for years in Sri Lanka but couldn't win the war. So Show some respect to the man behind the war effort, who didn't care about any international pressure unlike other leaders

You are nearly right. Safe for foreigners who do not speak their mind out and lankans who are, metaphorically, blind, deaf and dumb.

White British tourist are always safe in the NE compared to the South. Drugs, rent a boy, prostitution attracts white tourist to the south with associated risk.

Oh dear citizen ! See where your intelligence level lies,,,! Both incidents you have mentioned had happened due to the intelligence levels of the individuals, its not a fault of the country ,,

UK, thanks. You people have been listening to terrorists all those years. Now please instead of destroying our beloved country again, try helping us with the support of EU and UN.

When UK or some other country says something bad about us, we call them liars, but if they say something good about us - then they are good.
