The 14 suspects arrested over the recent attack on the MTV/MBC media office in Colombo were released on bail by the Colombo Fort Magistrate today. The suspects were earlier released on police bail but the Magistrate had reprimanded the police for doing so saying they should be presented in Court.

The suspects were among 16 people arrested after a mob began pelting stones towards the MTV/MBC media office in Colombo in March this year. Two suspects did not appear in Court today. (LS)

Obviously, the Magistrate too had to follow orders. These men were instigated and ordered to carry out the attack.

Were they released without any punishment even. We saw on TV who the culprits were - let the people decide. The politicians dont have any sense.

Yes i Agree with Citizen 1 's comment the Law of the country is rubbish it's been 6 months since i left Sri Lanka but nothing has changed much i'm in Australia now and really happy to be here. my personal opinion is there should be some political back up behind the release of the MTV attack suspects.

Every time there is a malpractice or violence or disturbance we eagerly wait for the law to act and punish the culprits. Sadly we expect too much.

Thomas: What suspects only? They have been photographed and identities established as well and who's who is well known. Support your chosen leaders but for God's sake dont support blindly.

    HOLD ON EVERYBODY.
They have been released on BAIL...They haven't been found innocent by anyone or the magistrate as yet.The case is still on going..The magistrate has granted the suspects Bail only..They can still be found guilty based on the hearing that will continue ..This is not a verdict....

That is why the UN do not have the confidence on the panel made by our President to investigate the war crime.
