Police baton charge Jaffna students

Several Jaffna University students were injured when police today baton charged a group of students who were protesting amongst the heavy police and military presence around the university. The police and military personnel had been stationed in the area to prevent anyone commemorating LTTE Heroes’ Day on Tuesday. Jaffna Army Head Quarters said the Army was called in to support the police in dispersing the students. (Pix by Prasath and T. Sumithy)

    officials must work to establish the peace in the country. what they were doing here is not acceptable at all. they are students after all.
