Monks in ‘Pindapatha’

E-mail Print

A procession of Buddhist monks was held in Kolonnawa in view of the Sambuddhatwa Jayanthiya today. The programme was organized to give alms to the Buddhist monks together with 100 simultaneous “Dharma Deshanas” (religious sermons) being conducted in the area. Pix by Nisal Baduge

I am also a Budhist. I take this as "Boru Show". According to Buddhas teachings this must happen on a regular basis

This is a pre-planned program so it is same as a home alms giving.

Hate this Comments. They are the most venerable people in the society. Giving to the poor beggar and to the monk are fully differ

Real ‘Pindapatha’ are not 'organized'. This is more of an 'Alms giving'. If you go to a remote 'Aaranya' you'll get to see some monks on ‘Pindapatha’ in the morning. Usually thats the only meal they have from the whole day. It takes incredible discipline to sustain that, but they do.
