Responding to President Maithripala Sirisena’s remarks at yesterday’s government rally in Colombo, UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said today whatever the President’s personal issues with him may be, the President should not plunge the country into constitutional chaos through his illegal and immoral actions.
Mr. Wickremesinghe said in a twitter message that the President should not hold the people, he has been elected to serve to, ransom by plunging the country into constitutional chaos.
Whatever President Sirisena’s personal issues with me may be, he should not hold the people he has been elected to serve to ransom by plunging the country into constitutional chaos through his illegal and immoral actions.

MS and MR thought RE would simply walk away as he did in a similar situation in 2004. But he who bright in 19th amendment and so knows the legality as a lawyer.

Why are you so hesitant Sir to go the Supreme Court and obtain a ruling?? It's true that the manner you were outsted was immoral. But was it moral and good when you were appointed PM in 2015 and when you had only 46MPs supporting you in Parliament??? Whether moral or immoral, it's within the President's right / power as per the 19thA of the constitution. If not, why are you guys fighting shy to to go to courts and get an order? Be real Sir as this is the opinion of the fair-minded people. Politics in SL is dirty and immoral acts committed by Leadres and Politicians in the past are too numerous to mention.

Since you have so kindly only given half the story, i will provide the rest of it. In 2015 it was within their constitutional right to be appointed PM with only 45 MP's support. But the 19th Amendment changed all that. Please ask questions with the FULL context, not only in the context you prefer to remember. Thank you.

Ranil: the god saved out country. If you and your party remained in power for some more month the country would have been gone in to thin air . However the destruction you and your men had done for the country is an unforgivable crime and a sin and we believe all these crimes will be paid by you someday. May the Triple Gem bless this country

Ranil, you and Chandrika worked so hard to bring MS to power. But he taught you a good lesson. We all know MS was not a honest person. He had hoppers with MR and the very next day he joined with you all. Now the next Presidential election is coming in January 2020. To win that election MS needs the support of MR. This is a political game. The ultimate winner is no body other than MR.
