Up country railway services had been disrupted due to caving in of the railway line between Kadugannawa and Balana, the Railway Control room said.
They said the passengers of the Kandy-Colombo train had been transferred using buses to Rambukkana this morning.
The train services on the upcountry line had been restricted up to Rambukkana, they said.

The Railway authorities had sufficient time to rectify such issues well before the damages. Sheer laziness and poor leadership and administration. Railway Department is another poorly handled institution.

Poor maintenance. Look at the tracks in Fort Railway station, only a few nails are keeping the track in place. I met an old men who said that the trains in the 1950's were travelling faster and with less bumps than todays train - while most of the wagons have never been replaced.

This is indeed the incapability of Sri Lankan Government. At least they should know how to preserve what English men gave rather trying to construct new roads. Soon there won't be a railway service to Upcountry. Well done GOSL.
