The United National Party (UNP) can consider taking its former general secretary Tissa Attanayake back to the fold if he makes a formal request to re-join the party, his successor Kabir Hashim said today.

“Several UNPers have left the party and rejoined later and there is no obstacle for Mr. Attanayake doing the same,” Mr. Hashim told a media briefing in  response to a question asked by journalists about the speculation in political circles of the possibility of Mr. Attanayake rejoining the UNP. Pathetic. Tissa Attanayake. should be in jail. Shameless to take a person who went to such a low level to tarnish images of HE and PM. He destroyed UNP.

    KP Wednesday, 29 March 2017 03:57 PM

Whatever Tissa exposed is proven as correct, whether it is signed or not. So, he is a trustworthy politician. All the best!

Party man Wednesday, 29 March 2017 01:11 PM

Do not take this traitor back and damage the UNP. There are enough young educated people in the UNP to take the party forward.

    Hi Wednesday, 29 March 2017 11:30 AM

May be he will pay millions to UNP to join again and escape criminal charges.

Dinesh welgama Wednesday, 29 March 2017 11:06 AM

Others left UNP on principle but he left UNP after having sabotaged the party and having caused a near defeat to UNP nominee. Kabeer had forgotten the history.

Why Has he not committed a crime should he not be penalised Is the UNP following MRs style of rule As joining him to avoid the legal system. via DM Android App

    lion Wednesday, 29 March 2017 06:04 AM

Very bad decision this will cost UNP dearly . It was a great injustice of what you did in the past by taking politicians who left your party for personal interest. Non has left the party for public interest. Its only either to get away from investigation in courts for their corrupt activities. Look what this 3rd grade( first of all your party should have been ashamed to appoint a man of this nature to such an important place in the party) former sectary of your party has done during last few days to the presidential election in which, we the people of this country were able to chase out the dictator who ruined this country. He forge document as signed by your leader to show the public that your party had a link with LTTE. Fortunately people never believed his gimmick. You are going to take such a traitor to your party again. We the people of this country plead to the leader ship of UNP to stop this action at any cost to protect the integrity of this grand old party.

    D Herath Tuesday, 28 March 2017 09:34 PM

Nobody thinks this is forgiveness or generocity in UNP. This is their political bankrupcy. This is the quality of UNP and SLFP politicians. They have no standards.. almost all currupt. This is why we should think about a 3rd Force, the JVP.

    Sincere Tuesday, 28 March 2017 08:44 PM

We don't mind as long as he reveals the truth who asked him to forge the signature.

UNP was having a bad time when this guy was in sooner everything was bright for the party since he left so hope again the party going to have bad time by taking him in. via DM Android App

    Kadiya Tuesday, 28 March 2017 06:58 PM

Why do the UNP need a forger for?

    Mason Tuesday, 28 March 2017 06:55 PM

It was thought that UNP had some decent policies, but it seems to be wrong. Whomsoever who bring some votes are welcome, irrespective of his character and passed conduct etc.

    Madiya Tuesday, 28 March 2017 06:36 PM

Birds of a feather flock together.

    Banda Tuesday, 28 March 2017 06:03 PM

The sheer moral bankruptcy of our politicos is breathtaking. Isn't this is the guy who is facing criminal charges of forging documents under the names of current prez and p.m.

    Hoodwinked Tuesday, 28 March 2017 06:02 PM

It only shows how bankrupt UNP is to take back the back stabbers. Nothing more can be expected from the party which is now well established as "dealers" headed by its leader.
