Killing in SL seems to have become a mormal thing on a daily basis ......since of late. Bring in the Death penalty !

    BoomBoomAfridi Monday, 09 July 2018 11:52 AM

this is a domestic issue - happens in every country do not relate this to other violent activities in the country.

    Ceylon Monday, 09 July 2018 12:41 PM

Domestic or not crime is crime.killing is killing.

    JE Sunday, 08 July 2018 10:28 PM

Barbarity of the Sinhalese can only be matched by the North Indians.

    Rambo Monday, 09 July 2018 07:40 AM

JE-Please avoid racist comments that has no relevance to the report.

Truth Hurts Monday, 09 July 2018 08:33 AM

People of the North and east of Sri Lanka (The clueless tamilians who keep losing wars against sinhalese and are now begging for yet another one) are so innocent they dont rape and kill children. They dont rape and kill wives in front of their husbands. A blockhead called prabhakaran did not exist. What cave did you walk out of or Are you smoking something funny?

    alex Monday, 09 July 2018 08:47 AM

why drag the Indians in to this

    Lingham Monday, 09 July 2018 10:01 AM

Please allow my comment. JE is absolutely right. Over 90% Of murders in Sri Lanka are committed in the Sinhalese South. Just check the police records.

    Tourist Monday, 09 July 2018 10:20 AM

The Sinhalese should examine why there are so many brutal killings in your Buddhist society. I have travelled to North and I found it to be a much safer place compared to the South.

    Ravi Monday, 09 July 2018 10:27 AM

Truth Hearts, I think you are Jaliya now in hiding . How many rapes you have heard committed in the North in the last few years ? Now compare this to the South.

Truth Hurts. Monday, 09 July 2018 11:45 AM

@Ravi whoever I maybe is irrelevant to this topic. What really matters is the MATH and Logic! The MATH = Population wise we are 70% when you are 12% (approx numbers) When we take a dozen eggs theres a chance that there is a bad egg and when we multiply this by the chances only get bigger. Then we take the logic which is what you hear is what the Majority wants to know. Sinhalese being raped and killed matters to the majority which is why the media shows more interest in reporting such incidents. A Tamil child and Vidya cases show that as a society when it comes to children The race does is relevant. So by that logic just because YOU dont get to hear about it. It does NOT mean the NORTH is a fairytale paradise. @Tourist : Please stop spreading BS.

    BoomBoomAfridi Monday, 09 July 2018 11:53 AM

yes they're more barbaric than those desert-dwelling camels who burn infidels i guess

The barbaric nature of the Tamils were displayed by the manner they killed that leopard and how they celebrated it.

Tony, what's happening in this country is disgraceful, you can see the breakdown in discipline starting from our parliamentarians, don't know if you have seen the behavior of Weerawansa and the other clowns last week at the Parliament Chamber. Sad to see the deterioration of the civilised society in our country.

    Heshan Monday, 09 July 2018 09:54 AM

Yeah , US just has weekly school shootings and the killing of blacks.

Clifford David Sunday, 08 July 2018 10:44 PM

We are indeed sad that we are living in such Sri Lanka Bring the culprits to the books to safeguard our motherland.

    BoomBoomAfridi Monday, 09 July 2018 11:54 AM

domestic issue nothing to do with the motherland - the motherland has bigger issues than this

    AA Sunday, 08 July 2018 11:01 PM

What is wrong with the people of this country? Why have we become so violent?

    Rasika Monday, 09 July 2018 06:29 AM

She would have jumped out of the box

Wise Donkey Monday, 09 July 2018 08:17 AM

We have enough legislation to protect animals which is well and good. Also killing a leopard is considered as a non bailable offence but human beings killed everyday like nobody's business. Hardly a day passes without someone being killed. Have we become so wicked hearted in a Buddhist country where compassion is the theme. Very sad.

    willowsd Monday, 09 July 2018 08:30 AM

Sincerely hope that the rulers would realize their failure now in maintaining law and order with using puppets at the top. It is not too late to get the FM Sarath Fonseka and clear the whole country from North to South, East to West? Are they waiting some more to die?

    Jude Monday, 09 July 2018 08:30 AM

High time to bring in the Capital Punishment!!??

    Banda Monday, 09 July 2018 11:44 AM

Capital punishment is for pre planned murder. This seems like a second degree murder or killing in an moment of extreme anger.

    Deplorable Monday, 09 July 2018 09:12 AM

This is domestic violence of the highest. Punisment sentence of death.

    Aviator Monday, 09 July 2018 09:18 AM

Honestly, the death penalty and harsh punishment should be implemented to correct our uncivilized society. Our people have become more and more violent of late. Even in traffic, a very minor incident is enough to drive someone totally mad.

    TJ Monday, 09 July 2018 09:37 AM

Are we slowly becoming barbarians or have we already become?

    varunadhar Monday, 09 July 2018 09:42 AM

This is in response to the comment made by the person with a sobriquet "JE" above who seems to be a simpleton.Barbarity of the Sinhalese? Can't you remember the barbarity committed by Tamils for the last 30 years and more recently, the "Vidya" rape case? Barbarians are there in any country and in any race.

    Lankan Monday, 09 July 2018 11:09 AM

Mohan, this is because of dysfunctional government you Tamils brought to this country.
