Security forces not for garbage disposal: Military

Security forces personnel do not engage in garbage disposal, Military Spokesman and Army Media Director Roshan Seneviratne said yesterday.

He said however they were currently involved in monitoring the unauthorized and haphazard disposal of garbage.

“Military personnel will inform relevant authorities about such incidents and monitor the proper collection of garbage,” he said.

Brigadier Seneviratne said the security forces would assist the Police to arrest persons involved in illegal and improper disposal of garbage. (Darshana Sanjeewa)

well said Sir, Keep it up. Relevant Authorities of all forces must speak for themselves and be firm on principles. Come forward when disaster strikes - not when acts of negligence and man made problems arise. We salute the forces for their unstinted work at recent flood and disaster situation.

Quite correct. There are organizations, officials and workers who are responsible for clearing garbage and they are sleeping. Let them do their duty.

Who ever said this - I am not soldier, but don't humiliate the military uniform by saying the soldier to assist in garbage disposal. Use them for a monitoring mechanism only.

ALL the occupants of the Diyawanna should be sent to collect the garbage. Not the army, which is a disciplined force for a specific reason. One politico has said that since Independence, the garbage problem has been there!! What kind of fools are these people!

Maniya - My point was not to say that forces should clean garbage, but the fact that they all kept their traps shut when our hero's were sweeping parks. Now they talk, that's yahapalana.

security forces work is not garbage collection. Its a disgrace to use the defence forces for this kind of work, they will do it if necessary. but there are other civilian systems that are required for this, on a Daily basis.
