Sustainable Development, Wildlife and Regional Development Minister Sarath Fonseka is reported to have been denied security by the Special Task Force (STF) triggering concerns whether it was linked to his criticism of the elite police force in Parliament last Friday.
He had launched a scathing attack on the STF last Friday and claimed that the STF was harassing his supporters over baseless charges.
Sources close to the minister said, the STF had not deployed its personnel assigned for his security both on Friday and Monday resulting in the minister complaining to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya about this citing it as a breach of his parliamentary privileges.
When asked about this turn of events, Law and Order Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara said he had directed Police Chief Pujith Jayasundara to investigate this matter. (Kelum Bandara)

YES ....... HE MUST SOLVE HIS PERSONNEL ISSUES BEFORE SOLVING WILD LIFE ISSUES.

IS HE SUPPOSED TO CONTROL WILD ANIMALS OR WILD ANIMALS ARE SUPPOSED TO CONTROL HIM.

Maaluwa nahenne kata nisa.

If he criticises the STF accusing them of harassing his supporters, he can't then expect them to provide his security. He can't have his cake and eat it, after all.

What rubbish you are talking. The STF belongs to the government and they can’t operate like a private unit .

This the result of your foul mouth. And why do are ministers request for that much of security when there are no more life threatening situations in this country. In some countries minister go to parliament on bicycles.

Well, he can do without 'bulls'!!!
Jaffna Resident Wednesday, 29 August 2018 08:25 AM
The arrogance of the STF is obvious they think they are an elite force but here in Jaffna they are struggling to control a few dozen gangsters operating in motorbikes. The STF is a pussycat compared to the Army. Why can’t a Field Marshal be given Army bodyguards who would do a good job without showing off.

SF is a top soldier in this land who won the war for us. Who is this DIG leading the STF, he is nothing compared to SF.
AJ Wednesday, 29 August 2018 11:47 AM
SF behaves like a dictator. Study his character properly. He is not suitable to be a minister anywhere.
RP Wednesday, 29 August 2018 09:00 AM
Shame on you SF, you wouldn’t quit complaining about STF no matter what. Damn if they do and damn if they don’t.I guess, you are a good military man but bad in politics, sorry mr. Fonseka. Please take care of the wildlife, they really do need protection now more than ever.Their days will be numbered unless, the wildlife laws are fully enforced to deal with illegal poaching spearheaded by The arrival of thousands of Chinese, who are known to have an appetite for exotics!

FM Sarath Fonseka is man who does not mince his words and calls a spade a spade. Apparently, he has a grouse to settle with DIG Latif who apparently cannot accept criticism and close to the IGP who must be aware. So instruct the IGP to rescind the STF action and give the FM his security but will FM Fonseka be comfortable thereafter.??
Lord Wolfstein Wednesday, 29 August 2018 09:50 AM
Give Minister Fonseka the Ministry of Law and Order and he will clean up between the cocky DIGs.
Ronnie Bugger Thursday, 30 August 2018 09:52 AM
This has been suggested many times but the powers that be are apparently too scared for themselves.

The STF DIG deserve the on the spot termination. How is he acting according to his "Whims and Fancies".SF only brought the Matter up to the notice of Palimentariams.DIG is totally wrong here.
Lokka Wednesday, 29 August 2018 03:35 PM
STF is taken out because some members of STF are under investigation. Not because of anything. Blaming SF are fools.

Imagine, what if SF became the president in 2010? Good that people in SL had the wisdom to throw him to the political dustbin twice. In 2010 and 2015.
