Rob Chave, Strength and Conditioning coach at Sussex County has been appointed as Sri Lanka’s new Physical Preparation Manager. He is expected to take up the appointment on September 17.
A graduate of the Sport and Exercise Science Masters programme at Portsmouth University and with a background in tennis, Rob joined Sussex in October 2015.
He has worked across all programmes during his time at the club, with a focus on women’s cricket, the Aldridge Cricket Academy and the Elite Development Group.
Reflecting on his time at Hove, Rob said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed and highly valued my two years across both Sussex Cricket and the Aldridge Cricket Academy. It has been a pleasure to work in a coaching unit under Mark Davis, who has encouraged us to be creative, thoughtful and to challenge each other on a daily basis.”
“I have been lucky to be able to develop a programme with Jon Lewis and Carl Hopkinson to progress our young fast bowlers and batters over the past two years, and my belief is that the success of this programme will become obvious over the coming seasons at Sussex Cricket.
“As well as this, it has been important to me to be able to contribute to the progression of the professional squad; the team under Luke Wright and Ben Brown have been brilliant to be around and to work with, and I have no doubt things will only continue to improve.”
“I’d like to thank all the staff at Sussex Cricket and Aldridge Cricket Academy for giving me the opportunity to be involved and allowing me to develop over the past two seasons. Without it I would not be able to be in such a place to accept such a fantastic role with Sri Lanka Cricket. I have lots of fond memories to take with me."
