Protesting students barge into Health Ministry

The protestors of the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) forcibly entered the Health Ministry building at Maradana a short while ago.

The protesting students demanded the abolishment of the private medical faculty at the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM).

The students had also covered the ministry’s sign board reading ‘Suvasiripaya’ with one of their banners which demanded the private medical faculty be abolished.

Earlier today, the Colombo Chief Magistrate issued an order preventing IUSF students from forcibly entering government institutions. (Thilanka Kanakarathna)

if they do not want to make use of their free education, please dismiss them and give the opportunity to others who will study and be a positive contributor to the society

Some of these are not uni students. There are hired or plain rabble hooligans here.

If they are not going to resolve their issues amicably with the authorities, then either the authorities need to resign or the students need to be punished and put behind bars, because if this is the quality of University students, we can all be glad that most of us didn't qualify to enter University.

These students are representing some one else of the society. Most probably brought their by the force. What is important is to identify the organisers of these events and punish them according to the law of the country. Unfortunately mis-led uni student leaders are also to be taken in to the courts in accordance with the law of the country.
