President Maithripala Sirisena would take future steps after seeking necessary legal opinion since the Cabinet has been suspended, UPFA MP Susil Premajayantha said yesterday.

Addressing a news briefing, he said the Court of Appeal’s stay order issued restraining the Prime Minister and the Cabinet from functioning had no impact on the President.

“The order has no impact on the Executive President or his functions. Accordingly, he will seek necessary legal opinion and take future steps,” he said.

When asked about the remarks made by UNP MP Rajitha Senaratne that a new government led by a UNP Prime Minister would be appointed, MP Premajayantha said it won’t happen. “He can say whatever he wants but they won’t come true,” he said.

Meanwhile, MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara said as far as they know, no order has been given in the history of Sri Lanka or the world like the one which was given by the Court of Appeal yesterday. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

"No order has like this has been given in the history of Sri Lanka or the world" for the simple reason that never before in the history of Sri Lanka and nowhere else in the world has such a stupid and brainless set of near-fascists abetted by a coot of a President ever behaved like this is the history of constitutional democracy.

Please get lost and let the law and order prevail in this country. MR and MS finished in politics. Both does not obey constitution and law of this country. So people will never trust to give power again to both. If majority of parliament trust RW need to lead them until Sajith takes over for next election prez should appoint him. MS and MR wants to bring Sajith into PM post and distroy him during this year since power is in prez hand so that people's trust is lost by next election. Then UNP is helpless. They know that and thats why even Sajith wont come forward until next election.

...what a mess. The bigger threat is not the mess itself, but that we have a deranged man holding all the reins. Just imagine he gets a heart attack. There will not be a Sri Lanka tomorrow.

He can't take any more steps as he is paralyzed by the court order. He could join Mahinda on the 12 th in the court.

We have many firsts in the world. Some good some bad. Mrs. B as first female PM and now a puerile President being shown the error of his ways by Court. So what is this fuss Vasu ? That is what is called progress, evolution, whatever but the caravan moves on inexorably.

Firstly, you are one of the main people who is responsible for the current situation in the country. Secondly, before anyone have a hope in the President's future steps,we all are aware that what was his past steps, utter violation and illegal.

That is a sensible idea. He should have done so on the night this comedy unfolded. If you have studied and understand Chemistry, some reactions are not reversible. Then we need to discard the contents of the reaction.

Have not the "legal opinions" of those surrounding this President - may be lawyers like you and Vasu and Namal - put hin in trouble enough already. Let saner cousel prevail instead of some power hungry mongrels.
