Police today recorded a statement from Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Galaboda Atthe Gnanasara Thera for allegedly insulting Islam.
A source said the Police Organized Crime Prevention Division had recorded a statement from the Thera for nearly two hours, in connection with him allegedly insulting ‘Allah’ during a press conference last month.
Former Deputy Mayor of the Colombo Municipal Council Azad Sali had lodged the complaint against the Thera.
