The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) and the Kollupitiya Police are investigating the death of a 49-year old man who had worked as a cook in an apartment at the Galle Face Court housing complex in Colombo.

The Kollupitiya Police recovered a burnt body from the apartment following a tip-off received to the 119 hot-line on Saturday. The body was found with both hands and legs tied to the bed.

According to the initial investigation, the deceased was a resident of Arangala in Athurugiriya and had worked as a cook and driver at the apartment in which a British national and his spouse, a Thailand national, resided, the police said.

The police have recorded statements from the residents and the security officer of the housing complex.

Meanwhile, the police said a complaint had also been lodged stating that the driver, a former employee of the British national of the same apartment, had gone missing.

The wife of the driver, who is a resident of Moratuwa, has lodged the complaint.

The Police have also commenced investigation into the disappearance of the driver.(DS)

White red green or brown doesn't matter, colour does not matter. There are some bad people in the world and there are some good. It is not down to race or religion but rather fate or misfortune.
