A leading foreign embassy located in Colombo has complained to the Foreign Affairs Ministry that residents living in the neighbourhood were pelting stones at the embassy premises across the parapet wall.
Sources said the embassy had reportedly complained to the police as well as the Defence Ministry over the incident.
The embassy was built on a land which had been previously occupied by squatters and there was a controversy over the ownership of the land for the past couple of years. The pelting of stones had been reported on several occasions. (Thilini De Silva)

This is a very negative aspect towards the guests. We should immediately give up this and apologise them for the bad attitude and we must always think that embassy officials suppose to be our guests and we should respect them at the maximum level to show our cultural behaviour and etiquette towards the foreigners. Again if there is any legal impediment, we should seek justice through the judicial mechanism.

It's unfortunate to see this. I'm a Japanese and I was staying in Colombo for a while and saw many rallies against minorities. The amazing thing was all hatred and foul words are spreading in the name of Buddhism and Sinhala patriotism. And I must mention it's Sri Lankan version of Buddhism. It's very sad to see this transition of good old Sri Lanka.-Yoshika Imato

Most of the countries give embassies a trouble free and high security area. !00% sure locations should be free of shanties and troubles. Our Foreign Ministry is useless and for the name sake Foreign Ministry. They must have taken action against such incidences as our hospitality towards Foreign mission is high priority.
