Responding the query as to how and where Rs.10 million was allocated from the Presidential Fund for the surgery of Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne in Singapore, Minister Senaratne said that it was Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who ordered him to go abroad for the operation.

Addressing the media on Wednesday during the cabinet briefing, Dr. Senaratne said although he had wished to undergo the surgery in Sri Lanka, the Premier had compelled his son to take Minister Senaratna elsewhere for the surgery.

“When the Premier said that he would settle the accounts, I had to obey him. I do not want to waste the money of the poor. If I had wanted, I could have done it easily. But since the order came from above, I did so,” Mr. Senarantna said.

He proceeded to say that he was not the only MP to go abroad for medical purposes and therefore it was not reasonable to accuse him for allocating money from the Presidential Fund.

“There was a rumour spreading that some had engaged in exorcism to curse me. The PM had a fear that the same fate of Ven. Sobitha Thera would befall me. That’s why he commanded my family members to take me abroad for the operation. Therefore, don’t misinterpret the incident,” he added.(Sheain Fernandopulle)

So, it was to save you from the effects of exorcism, and on the PM's command that you were taken to Singapore for treatment. The PM goes to Temples in India to ward off ill effects, wonder why he did not recommend this cure ! However, a local 'Kattadiya' could have been employed. Wasting the money of the poor man has become the done thing of the Politicians.

However Rs.10 million allocated from the Presidential Fund for your surgery and Health is not Ranil or his grandfathers money!Parasites like you get more perks than you deserve. If you are honest please give back the Rs.10 mil. to the people who are starving and to the disabled solders who sacrificed their lives and limbs safeguarding people like you who were sponging and living comfortably in Colombo.

you are the health minister, you should have done this in Gov hospital to see the service they provide to public. If I were the health minister, I would have obtained the general service what the public receive to see what happens in the hospitals. Missed opportunity Minister.

Good that the minister went to Singapore for treatment. If he had the operation in a government hospital they would have killed him when he went through the operation. GMOA is that angry with him. You made the right decision.
