Introducing a new Constitution is only a dream because the government has run out of time already, National Integration Minister Mano Ganesan said.
He said this at the National Inter-religious Symposium held yesterday at the BMICH. The event was organised by the National Peace Council.
“I personally feel there is a need for a new Constitution as there are so many problems to be solved. However, it was supposed to be introduced during the first year of the ‘Yahapalana Government’ but we couldn’t make it happen. It is impossible to devise a new Constitution before this government’s term expires,” he said. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

Which Govt are you talking of Mano. There is no govt at present and it is auto pilot when Rajapaksa returns you will have to seek asylum else where not in SL as he will wipe the tigers like you for life

Why do we need a new constitution,currently the priority should be to solve problems of NE Tamil peple.Problems could be poverty,education , healthcare etc etc.New constitution will not solve these problems.

Government has no mandate to bring it. Whole programme was manipulated under the couch. Sinhalese majority representatives were not given a chance. Violation of natural justice.

This new is not new to tamils. from the liberation from foreigners, we tamil is being cheated by every government and we know that never give us a reasonable solution to us.whenever there are pressure from out side foreign countries govt. proposes something and drag the time till next election.

In lanka everything is a dream. Leaders come snd go only memory long term conflicts and all catastrophes witnessed since independence. Yes we must thank the person to give us free educations but now the education turned to political withy washy with teachers educators manipulated by political interference who will respect any politicians who ask a female educator to knee he could not know. Each and every leader must try to keep his promises not paying attention to it is something society find difficult to comprehend

Mano Ganeshan is right. The new constitution was the Prime Minister's idea, what he has failed to do in three long years how can he do in the next t short years. The man must be a HOUDINI.
