Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama has resigned from the post of United National Party (UNP) Chairman.
He told Daily Mirror that he tendered his resignations as the party Chairman in order to facilitate the party reorganization that has been announced by the party's Working Committee.
The Ruwan Wijewardene Committee that has been appointed to collect proposals for the party reorganization had recommended that all posts of the party should be changed.
Accordingly, all party posts are to be changed before May 1. (Anjula Mahika Weerarathna)
