    Chryshan K Saturday, 15 December 2018 10:50 AM

Best news for Sri Lanka. Finally justice restored and we can step into new year with a new outlook. Hope new govt will work honestly to develop the country since now if MS pull the leg they can openly attack in public and put all wrong doers behind bars.

Punny Pellow Saturday, 15 December 2018 01:15 PM

Resigns after getting kicked out with a rugby tackle!!!

    Patriot Saturday, 15 December 2018 11:21 AM

Events leading to 26th Oct 2018 and events between 26th Oct 2018 till yesterday should be probed by a relevant authority and wrong doers punished according to laws as a lesson to our future leaders/ politicians.

    Patriot Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:59 PM

According to newspaper reports total loss so far to the economy is about Rs.200 Billions as such probe becomes very important and this impasse should not be forgotten at any rate.

    Susil Saturday, 15 December 2018 11:22 AM

He can now enjoy some peace of mind after being dragged into a coup twice by his own party members First one - no confidence motion against RW, main culprit - Gammanpila who said if RW survives the Sun will rise from the West. Second one accepting the PM position, culprits - SB, Basil, Dilan, ??? who assured him the support of 120 membersLesson for him "Nothing more important and valuable than BEING PATIENT." Hopefully this is what the Buddhist Monks should get him to understand

    Sambo Saturday, 15 December 2018 11:23 AM

    Easy come Easy go.

    Jith Saturday, 15 December 2018 11:38 AM

He had his faults, but he was the one decisively made a rions and delivered. Easy one easy got all was due to him. We need decisive leadership that delivers. What we are left with now is deceiving leadership that TALKS. PREZ SHOULD publish bonds report without delay.

    Asela Saturday, 15 December 2018 11:42 AM

    We need a kiribath party...

Wise Donkey Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:28 PM

What about a hoppers party with that man SB, who created all this mess.

    Mandy Saturday, 15 December 2018 11:43 AM

Resigned not willingly but virtually pushed out by Law of the Land. Purely lack of an alternative but will try get credit by saying he did this to help SL have a govt - not that he usurped the rightful govt by crookish means for which he is well known. Oh what deceit as usual.

Citizen Poor Saturday, 15 December 2018 11:48 AM

Daily Mirror is publishing comments mostly one sided aligning towards UNP. Therefore does not reflect true guage of the readers

    Nuwan Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:10 PM

comments reflect democracy, if this happened the other way we will condemn the UNP. The Rule of law is important than party or individual.

    Disawe Saturday, 15 December 2018 11:49 AM

This is not a news this is a message that don't grab power from back door. MR had a respect since he was the President while the war was ended by security forces now he lost everything. If he is a person to care for his self respect he should retire and take a rest.

    Hakeem Monday, 17 December 2018 09:03 AM

It was Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka who fought n won the war for MR.

    pharosdad Saturday, 15 December 2018 11:51 AM

But then when was he a P.M.

    saman Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:04 PM

    janaka Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:14 PM

I am sure 2019 will be bright and Good Luck for Ranil. MS, and MR will go back home before 31st Dec 2018. This is what we looking forward. Congratulation to Ranil

    Patriot Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:19 PM

Resigned from what? I thought he was already sacked from the parliament and later interdicted by the court.

Nihal Amarasekera Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:21 PM

Ambiguous 19th Amendment the culprit for sure.

Ballot Mam Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:24 PM

Good riddance of bad rubbish let be forever

    Appu Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:25 PM

Who will pay the losses done by My3

    Dr.R de.S Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:29 PM

According to some TV news channels it appears that MR "resigned" from the PM,s post for the sake of the country. The truth is that he ceased to be the PM with the appeal court ruling .i.e he was virtually kicked out. Why are the state media channels which are run by the people,s money doling out such blatant lies?

    sandy123 Saturday, 15 December 2018 01:22 PM

Because they have a fear about white vans

Be Fair Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:30 PM

I don't think this can be termed as a "Honorable" Decision. What a mess "this great man to many Sri Lankans" has fell into because of Greed. I am sad he acted this way, not because I like him, but just because he finished the War for Sri Lanka. I wish he is now pragmatic enough to enjoy his retirement, so that his non interference will restore some glory.

    Seqi Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:37 PM

Let's hope the money lost during bonds scam will be retrieved and put to good use....pay off some debt. Small cabinet please. Ravi got some explaining to do. Mahinda, sadly is a sucker for compliments.....the young turks Wimal, Gammanpillock and Dilan( old turkey) have led him by the nose to the chopping block......vanity is Mahinda's downfall. But there well might be a new year surprise.

    Chux Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:47 PM

You don’t have to resign but you are being thrown out after two no confidence motions

    DALLAS Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:53 PM

All these people on this forum are big big supporters of Democracy. If so pls get Ranil to hold all elections which are late.UNP will get decimated in any election whether it is provincial council or what ever

    Jaya Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:53 PM

Accept the wrong doing. False excuses are not acceptable. We are know that you are not patriotic.

Charlie brown Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:54 PM

Those holding up MR as a decisive leader are only fooling themselves ...decisions have to be made coldly and after weighing up all the facts ....SL does not need an impulsive leader who snatched at everything that jumps in front of him .The mad ,vote grabbing spending spree MR went on as soon as he stole office is a perfect example of only looking at the smaller picture .Look at what benefits all in SL ,not just your supporters

    ravin Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:55 PM

Any way make a mistake/blunder by listening unwarranted guys. Hope and pray you will not make same mistake in future.

    Denis Saturday, 15 December 2018 12:56 PM

He was good leader. I am really surprised how he got in to this mess because of the surrounding company he has namely wimal weerawansa, udaya gammanpila and Dinesh gunewardan etc. He really lost his respect among the Sri lankan people by getting in to this coup. I wish and Hope he would really think twicw before he gets in a next move.

    Jack Saturday, 15 December 2018 01:06 PM

    I still believe Karma

    Finally.... Saturday, 15 December 2018 01:08 PM

    Congratulations! Go home

    Angel Saturday, 15 December 2018 01:19 PM

As the former President you should think before you act. Don't be greedy for position and fame. You should know to do what is RIGHT.

    Anura Saturday, 15 December 2018 01:29 PM

Typical Sri Lankan democracy, now wait one and half years for general elections, culprits and bank robbers continue to rule the country!

    KK Saturday, 15 December 2018 01:47 PM

According to CoA and SC Orders , MR is not a PM. If he resigns from PM means contempt of court orders.

    Waz Saturday, 15 December 2018 01:56 PM

The Tele Drama comes to an end!

    weera Saturday, 15 December 2018 02:03 PM

Thanhaaya jayathei shoko. No shame! I hope he will suffer the consequences from Thadjudeen and Lasantha's murders and robberies..

    no harm just a try

    Moorthy Saturday, 15 December 2018 02:30 PM
