Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa would not have any difficulty to get former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga, who was alleged to have involved in MiG deal, to return to Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said today.

“Hitler’s brother would not have any difficulty in bringing back Weeratunga to Sri Lanka as he is still associated with the latter,” PM Wickremesinghe told UNP Ministers at Temple Trees today.

He had referred to former President as Hitler’s brother. “The Sri Lankan Government had made arrangements to bring Mr Weeratunga back to the country with the help of the Interpol, even if former President did not ask him to come back to Sri Lanka,” Mr Wickremesinghe had said.

The Prime Minister had expressed these sentiments, while chatting with the Ministers after the official meeting.

The Ministers have brought the Prime Minister’s focus on the statement made by former President that Prime Minster should bring former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran back to the country.

The Prime Minister had told the Ministers that he couldn’t bring Mr Mahendran back as he had not associated with the latter, ever since he left the Governor Post of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

“I cannot bring Mr Mahendran back even if Mr. Rajapaksa could bring Mr Weeratunga back to the country. Mr Rajapaksa could bring Mr Weeratunga back to the country as he associated with the latter continuously,” the Prime Minister had said.

The Prime Minister had also told the Ministers that he was not prepared to associate with those against whom arrest warrants had been issued. (Yohan Perera)

And MR didnt have any problem to finish 30 year war in the country. But PM did.

    nimesh Tuesday, 26 June 2018 11:43 PM

dont insult the forces,,it was the forces that fought and sacrificed their lives and ended the war,,war related commands are given by army commanders not by civilian Presidents,,but cunning MR duped most people in our country like u and showed as though he was able to win the war,,like almost single handedly,,he the one with people like u who are insulting the sacrifice done by the forces to win the war,,

    sanjeewa Wednesday, 27 June 2018 12:05 PM

you are right Gayan. Someone named Nimesh was mad that it was MR who lead the war as the CIC. Without political will, Nimesh would have been 6 feet underground now.

    nimesh Thursday, 28 June 2018 12:35 AM

Sanjeewa,,,CIC only declares war and peace and appoints service commanders or removes them,,,conduct of war is in the hands of the service commanders,,down the line commands are executed which originate from the service commanders,,CIC does not give operational commands,,u the people who are taking the due credit away from the armed forces who got injured and sacrificed their lives for the country and giving ur political stooges MR the credit..and are duped by him,,,what gullible people url are,,,duped by MR,,,if MR had won in 2015 u are the one who would have been 6 feet down by his white van operations against his own countrymen and Hitlers acts,,

    nimesh Thursday, 28 June 2018 12:38 AM

Now MR caught red handed taking huge bribe from chinese company ,..connected to Hambantota Harbour project,,,,what abt that,,,white wash that too,now u paying high taxes for this bribe originated white elephant which had to be leased,,lol

Wise Donkey Tuesday, 26 June 2018 07:57 PM

I don't think that you too have any problem in calling Mahendran, Mr PM! Why don't you do it. He ruined your .

    don Tuesday, 26 June 2018 08:00 PM

Corrupt politicians spoil SriLanka’s potential. MR lost the election because of allegations of corruption against him. Ranil will lose next 20 year due to Bond scam and Arjuna Mahendrean. You are with No real-life experiences and Leadership is sadly lacking. It’s time to let go, Sir. You are just making it worse for yourself and for everybody around you by holding on. What are you trying to prove

    Lara Tuesday, 26 June 2018 08:01 PM

Who did appoint Mahendran exactly? Was it us the citizen now to blame for this Hora and his master?

    samu Tuesday, 26 June 2018 08:10 PM

why are you beating about the bush instead of saying boldly that My Party UNP is rotten and corrupt to the core. Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse will let you go home safely in 2020. You both inter-dependable. Because MR is so much loved and “cared for” you.

    Ramanathan Tuesday, 26 June 2018 08:26 PM

Why don't you bring Mahendran back to Sri Lanka

    Yeti Wednesday, 27 June 2018 05:50 PM

How many times I called him but he doesn't want to come, anney!

    Dil Tuesday, 26 June 2018 09:24 PM

Mr Prime Minister, there was a time that we, the people, thought you are an honest politician. You proved that we were wrong! Having said that, we should also say that, we were wrong in bringing Jaraa Paalanaya to power on January 08, 2015. What blunders and chaos that you and your President created for us!

    Buddhist Tuesday, 26 June 2018 09:26 PM

Similarly if the Bond case is continued in the courts without any postponements then it will not be difficult for Ranil to bring back Arjuna Mahendran as he will want to save his Son in Law and SIL's father.

    666 Tuesday, 26 June 2018 09:28 PM

Apparently all the arrangements have been made to bring down UW. It is a matter of time. Now MR is trying to score a fast one by saying he is the one who brought down UW. Whether MR tell him to come or not UW will be deported to SL. Anyway the whole episode has again exposed the link and the close connections MR is still having with UW.

    austin Tuesday, 26 June 2018 11:46 PM

u are right,,,Mahinda is still hood winking some foolish people here,,,seems Ranil is coming out of his shell and hitting mahinda and Mahinda getting hammered,,

Nimal Tissa Wijethunga Tuesday, 26 June 2018 09:41 PM

Ranil can ask CID to lie low on the UNPers taken money in large scale from perpetual treauries and associated companies. But, he cannot ask Arjuna Mahendran to return to Sri Lanka to face the inquiry. There is no comparison between Don Juan Dhamapala and King Dutugemunu.

    Graham Tuesday, 26 June 2018 10:07 PM

You won’t have any problem in bringing him back cos you still want to appoint him as governor to empty the coffin

    S.P.Ramkumar Tuesday, 26 June 2018 10:39 PM

Hon. PM RW and Former HE. And Hon.MR are colonial cousins. Both only know each other, If both agree this country problem are over.

    karthik Tuesday, 26 June 2018 10:40 PM

MR Vs PM - it is a good game you both are playing and we are mere spectators only but not your fans.

The Critic Tuesday, 26 June 2018 10:57 PM

Ranil, ur existence remains on ur buddy!Poor fellow I think Mahendran has given the slip to him too!?

    Vipula Tuesday, 26 June 2018 10:57 PM

When you came to power in 2002 Mahendran became the BOI chairman. In 2015 he became the CB governor. Why you that close to him?You have been associating with him for years. You think we are bloody fools.

Namal Perera Tuesday, 26 June 2018 11:13 PM

The bunch of Crooks who turned the Democratic Sri Lanka to a Lawless Corrupt Banana Republic with Jungle Law and Family rule after winning the War and Terrorized the entire Country while robbing it to bankruptcy. Citizens should think twice, why a Ex President who served the Country both terms then amended the Constitution to stay in power for ever, and when got rejected, disgraced the Presidency and re-entered Parliament as a back bencher. Is it because he love the Country and the Citizens so much or to escape from punishment for all the atrocities committed during the past Regime?

    Lasitha Tuesday, 26 June 2018 11:49 PM

Good for Democracy,..Ranil attacking Mahinda and seems Mahinda no match,,come out of ur shell Ranil,,,,keep going Ranil,,hit at Mahinda ,,..then things will get exposed,,,and then we can choose who is genuine and choose the best

    Dharme Wednesday, 27 June 2018 12:27 AM

MR is a master to confuse great exponent of puppetry and a corrupt leader who placed the country second and his gains as priority and went on an earning spree,He met Udayanga many times overseas and flashed pictures with himNow the law is catching up with Udayanga and he as usual want to get the credit. If the electorate is wise no Rajapaksa should be touched with a barge pole but all efforts must be made to recover the loot

    Mahila Thursday, 28 June 2018 01:18 AM

We now know who is holding the other end of the long Leash of this scam.
