The Attorney General's recommendations on sorting out the technical issues in the present Local Government election laws will submitted to Parliament next week, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Faiszer Musthapha said yesterday.
The gazette notice on delimitation was issued on February 17 however there was a delay in holding LG elections because of a question on women representation.
“I have received the AG's recommendations and will submit the amendments to Parliament next week. The Elections Commissioner has said at least 55 days was needed to prepare for the LG polls from the time is declared,” the minister said and added that President Maithripala Sirisena instructed him to hold the LG elections as soon as possible. Please! There is no Election Commissioner. W are an Election Commission but your seem not to have heard of the Nineteenth Amendment.
