Former Minister and Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said today he would not allow Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma to come to parliament, alleging that he was engaged in corrupt activities such as sand mining.
Mr. Fonseka told a news conference that he received fewer votes at the 2015 general election than Thewarapperuma as he did not want to enter parliament, but to act as an anti-Rajapaksa force.
He added that if Thewarapperuma contested under a minority party, he would not receive votes of even his family members. Responding to the allegation that Mr. Fonseka was keeping kith and kin as his personnel staff, he said Mr. Thevarapperuma had no moral right to talk about it and added that he had a right to keep anyone in his personnel staff. He alleged that Mr. Thewarapperuma had begun politics as a “Kasippu” smuggler and said he was known as “Naiwadiye Palitha”.
“He was now engaged in sand smuggling. I will take action against this person. I will teach him a good lesson. I will teach him what political decency is,” he said. Mr. Fonseka said Mr. Thewarrapperuma was a navy deserter and he began politics as the driver of Anil Munasinghe and then joined Kumara Welgama, who kicked him out. (Ajith Siriwardane)

Field Marshal Fonseka is not living in the real world. How can he stop an MP from entering parliament? Only the people can do that, by not electing Thewarapperuma at the next election, or of course, the party leader can refrain from nominating him for election.

This SF has really become abusive and useless after entering politics right? He was well respected but not anymore. He is now greedy for positions. And who does he think he is? Does the Parliament belongs to him? Both are mad I guess. SF is very good in using unnecessary words and phrases. See what politics can do to a well respected person after all ha??

Thewaperuma has a talent of getting in to the news by verbally attacking personalities. SF has just given Thewaperuma a huge political boost and his vote bank will increase. Why doesn't SF realize this?

Just watched the two videos. PT seems to be an honest person trying to serve people in his own way and SF as usual maintaining his status and badmouthing everyone else.My opinion is PT a better politician than SF and this time my money is with him. :)

Fonseka thinks he can keep anyone, even his relatives as his personnel staff. But in the end of the day we have to pay their salaries. Some ministers have closer to 50 in their personal staff and all consist of their family members.
