The main issue with regard to the joint venture between Sri Lankan Government and Adani Ltd. running the Eastern Terminal is that a joint venture has been undertaken between the same Adani Ltd. and another Indian company , SJB MP Harin Fernando said today.
Mr. Fernando told a press conference that Adani Group had launched a joint venture with MSC which brought more than 70 of the transshipments to Colombo Port. “MSC also owns a port called Mundra, just north of Mubai. A problem would arise if Adani Group and MSC shift transshipment to Mundra Port. This will make the Colombo Port idle without business,” the MP said.
“Therefore, the issue is not handing over the Eastern Terminal to Indians but the joint venture which the Sri Lankan Government had got into,” he said.
He also said that the government should state whether it will have the power to appoint a CEO for the Eastern Terminal.(Yohan Perera)

Well If adani can take transhipment business to India like that they can do it anyway right? without investing 75 billion in Sri Lanka?

india is an economic hitman that cannot get the trans shipments or undercut the price. But with the Colombo port under their control, they can collude and strangle the Colombo ports strategic advantage as its cheaper to operate a back to back terminal operation.

Colombo port is our national assert no government has the right to share it with Indian companies or Indian state. It will be the end of Rajapaksas rule forever!
