No point developing Mattala into an international airport. It is a White elephant. Best to convert into an airport to train pilots. Think of developing an airport in the North to cater for international transport, tourism, jobs and trade. .One should be realistic. In life. Nesan

Where is the evidence that suggest an airport in North is not going to suffer the same?

    akila Tuesday, 30 January 2018 03:19 PM

I think an airport is not a viable suggestion. Of course advancing infrastructure and tourism is need in north since it will be totally a different experience for visitors because of the beautiful landscape.

why India ? they are not even successful in development of own airports, have anyone see how dirty their airport are ?

    BuffaloaCitizen Tuesday, 30 January 2018 12:36 PM

The fact is Indian airports were certainly dirty but progressively getting cleaner, but our airports were spick and span and now we don't have the money even to maintain them.

    Mohan Tuesday, 30 January 2018 02:45 PM

India wants to buy Mattala airport before China buys it. For security reasons.

    Ashan Wednesday, 31 January 2018 11:19 AM

Have you seen the current Indian airports? The airports they have in smaller cities in India are much better than BIA. Indian airports were dirty decades ago. Mumbai airport is one of the most beautiful airports in the world

Wonder why there is no interest from Indians and/or any other country to lease (or development of) the Matttala International Airport.

    Gamaya Tuesday, 30 January 2018 06:50 AM

Another opportunity to line your pocket

    Dias Tuesday, 30 January 2018 07:32 AM

Indians only wanted Mattala so that China wouldn't get it. Like Sampur, they will block any development of Mattala for years......suppose it will remain the world's most expensive grain silo.

    abdul Tuesday, 30 January 2018 08:15 AM

these people are destroying our country.

    Raja Tuesday, 30 January 2018 08:20 AM

What will remain with us finally?

    Dp Tuesday, 30 January 2018 08:23 AM

This government no future plans except selling, leasing and loans.

    Goonbag Tuesday, 30 January 2018 11:01 AM

Make Mattala airport into a fully fledged air force base.

    DJ Tuesday, 30 January 2018 11:10 AM

You have spoken about the sun moon and stars, but absolutely hardly any investment has come to the country under this leadership. The harbour had to go to the Chinese as that's the way it was always planned. Stop this humbug and put the country first not your pockets

    Lara Tuesday, 30 January 2018 11:11 AM

If the Indian government can and our government can't it shows the incompetency of our government. I mean does the Indian government consists of aliens or super humans?

    BuffaloaCitizen Tuesday, 30 January 2018 12:43 PM

The Indians are simple logical, honest and professionally competent in their specific fields which we are not. Out politicians or rather the whole State Machinery are first competent in crookedness.

    pradeep Tuesday, 30 January 2018 03:42 PM

because the Indians have the money and we do not

    Ajith Tuesday, 30 January 2018 01:44 PM

100 of Singapore Air force planes are parked in Australia. May be Sri Lanka can attempt similar business model.
