The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) today requested their members to cancel their leave during the disaster situation and to offer their assistance as best they could.
Following a discussion held with the Health Ministry, the GMOA said that they had requested their members to collaborate with the Health Ministry officials in the relief effort to provide assistance to the victims of this disaster.
GMOA Assistant Secretary Dr. Nalinda Herath said that they had agreed to conduct health camps in all the flood affected areas of the country.“Over 100 GMOA members had volunteered to treat the injured in flood affected areas. Our teams have already started treating those affected by the flooding in the Kalutara district and several teams would also be dispatched to Galle, Matara and the Hambantota districts,” he said. The advise should have been confidential - It would have given it a professional Meaning- Each and every doctor knows the Hypocrites oath which binds him/her and for sure they will abide by it

All ready government made this request from all the government servants. Are Doctors not part of the government service ? Why trade union request from its' members to cancel the leave ? GMOA tried to get marks even from national disaster like politicians. .

GMOA is not an organisation with power of its own outside health ministry orders. If they refuse to cooperate they can be punished - doctors in government service are under health ministry not under GMOA fancies. This is bullshit to score points.
Manoj Monday, 29 May 2017 11:09 AM
What? you can go on strike now and show your colors because you don't care for the patients
Ronnie Bugger Monday, 29 May 2017 11:02 AM
To all the GMOA sickos. Now is the best time to call an all island strike and see what happens. It will be prudent to order a few hundreds of coffins first.

At last they have come from their deep slumber. It is the Health Department that has the power to cancel leave of the staff, not the GMOA. They are afraid that the Indian doctors will steal the show. Too late buddy.do you job for the salary you are paid. Don't make it a PINPADY.
