Well atleast something that the governments keeps to their word... They said a revision will happen every 2 months for the fuel prices and yes, it is happening... This will only affect the general public and not the VVIPs traveling with their convoys... what a shame this country has become!

    GH Friday, 06 July 2018 12:26 AM

Where is the government? Where is the words? Do you still feel there is a government ruling the country?

    Sonali Friday, 06 July 2018 10:18 AM

We are being ruled by an oligarchy. We'd better accept that.

Tax Payer Thursday, 05 July 2018 11:18 PM

So, is this how the CPC is helping bankrupt Srilankan airlines balance its fuel debts?

    Anonymous Thursday, 05 July 2018 11:20 PM

Yay!! More parippu for us! Good luck in the upcoming elections guys. You are in for a treat!

    Premalal Thursday, 05 July 2018 11:21 PM

We have a government which is at sixes and sevens, does not know whether it is coming or going. Now wait for the cascading effects such as transport et al. We are heading for anarchy dictated by the IMF. Is the so called all powerful executive President brain dead?

    Unchikun Thursday, 05 July 2018 11:26 PM

The equation This reminds me of our Pythagorus.

    senaratne Friday, 06 July 2018 04:50 AM

looks like UNP has given up politics. Can they ever face an election like this?

    Gihan Friday, 06 July 2018 04:57 AM

This is a very good move. We cannot afford to be importing fuel for the excessive number of vehicles now polluting and causing congestion on our roads.

    thumilan Friday, 06 July 2018 05:14 AM

yes all the kings and queens in the legislature will not be affected as they will continue to enjoy tax free salaries ,free fuel ,duty free Rs 35MN) vehicle ,tax free allowances whist staging dramas to distract the public this increase could be termed as ""Vijayakala "' special

do it now Friday, 06 July 2018 05:37 AM

Now fix the problem with CPC. At least make it breakeven. Restructuring CPC or eliminate excess workforce is the only solution to sustain CPC.

    George Friday, 06 July 2018 05:48 AM

This country and the baffoons are getting sick day by day

    nihal Friday, 06 July 2018 08:54 AM

extra burden people have to bear just because of rampant corruption, mismanagement. and mishandling of public money.

    Jude Friday, 06 July 2018 09:34 AM

This is too much Government get loans from all over the world and we get stuck with the same, since we're the people who pays all these, So that's why we are unable to Raise our Heads in Our Country,

    Mangala Friday, 06 July 2018 09:35 AM

New york times, we need another article.

    lgchandana Friday, 06 July 2018 09:58 AM

    That's no big problem.

Abu Umar Friday, 06 July 2018 10:30 AM

The increase is probably to compensate the losses inured by CPC due to the long over dues from Sri Lankan and CEB. What a country we are living in!!!

    Jhon Friday, 06 July 2018 10:54 AM

Are happy now- Obata sathutui da dan...?

    SL Friday, 06 July 2018 11:07 AM

we the common people are paying at least 40-50% tax if all direct and indirect taxes are calculated.however all the minister and parliamentarians are enjoying vehicle permits and all other luxuries.

    Tom Friday, 06 July 2018 11:15 AM

Thank you for helping the joint opposition they will sweep the election Mangala is this your game plan

Lord Wolfstein Friday, 06 July 2018 11:18 AM

You should stay fair. What can the government do when the world market price rises. The world market price fluctuates constantly and will be again cheaper. If the government subsidizes the fuel prices, then also people have to pay for fuel, who have no vehicle at all. Weekly pricing is a big advantage. By the way the fuel prices in Sri Lanka are cheap.

    KEERTHI Friday, 06 July 2018 01:28 PM

For the people who have no vehicles also will suffer due to increse tranport charges as well as prices of other goods including food also will increase.

    Jehan Friday, 06 July 2018 02:43 PM

Then why did they give an election promise to reduce it?

    Ranjith Friday, 06 July 2018 11:48 AM

Good thank you for killing the people alive. Please go for fresh election n give power to who can do RW go home

    dravid Friday, 06 July 2018 12:03 PM

I dont think anyone needs to really panic as this is a good move,A revsion every week based on world prices is a fair way to go, so similar to increase price whenever the the world price goes down, the consumer also benefits.Lets allow the country to follow some good systems and most comments here are typical Sri lankan comments - where we expect everything free and the way we want as we speak without responsibility most times

    Rasheed Friday, 06 July 2018 12:15 PM

Get the maximum while in power and jump to other side when the election is closer.

    Jayalat Friday, 06 July 2018 12:15 PM

Yes.very corect RW and your battalion must go HOME

    Sanath Friday, 06 July 2018 01:23 PM

    Sam Friday, 06 July 2018 02:39 PM

Hello. I'm Still Lankan and I deserve to have everything for free or subsidized. I should have a government job where I do nothing for a big salary and get car permits. Listen to yourselves. In China everyone wants to work hard for the country. Here they want to rob it.

    RHM Friday, 06 July 2018 02:42 PM
