Four of Angoda Lokka's accomplices arrested

Four accomplices of underworld criminal ‘Angoda Lokka’ were arrested by the Police Oraganised Crimes Division during raids in Athurugiriya and Hokandara yesterday.

Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said a T-56 gun, 12 cartridges, one magazine, a motorcycle, full-face helmets, a trishaw, knives, 2kgs of kerala ganja and Rs.79,800 were seized during the raids.

He said the suspects aged between 24 and 37 were residents of Athurugiriya, Thalpe and Hokandara.

SP Gunasekara said they were wanted in connection with the murder of a 44-year-old man in Athurugiriya and for damaging the residence of a state minister's secretary.

“The suspects are alleged to have shot dead a motorcyclist at Galwarusawa on March 19 while two of them are alleged to have fired at the residence of a government servant at Jothipala Mawatha in Malabe on March 26. Although no one was injured, window panes and the parapet wall were damaged,” he said.

They are to be produced in the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court while the Police Oraganised Crimes Division is conducting further investigations.(Darshana Sanjeewa)
