An officer attached to the Excise Department office in Vavuniya was arrested on charges of possessing Kerala Ganja during a raid in Kaththankudi yesterday.
Police said the 25-year-old suspect, a resident of Kalmunai, was arrested by the Baticaloa Division Crime Prevention Unit along with 775 grams of Kerala Ganja.
He was to be produced in the Baticloa Magistrate’s Court.

Being an Excise Dept officer, he must have found it easy to go cross country from Vavuniya to Kalmunai with contraband he was supposed to detect.
