A former pilot of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) traveling to Dubai, was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning for carrying an unregistered pistol with a bullet, Police said.
Officers said the 50-year-old pilot, a resident of Rajagiriya, was currently working at a domestic airline in Kenya.
The pistol was detected in the pilot’s luggage by authorities when it was being scanned by security.
Negombo Police are conducting investigations. The suspect is to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court soon. (Darshana Sanjeewa)

He was the SLF pilot who flew into the Jaffna fort despite all the LTTE forces. I am sure he had no wrong intent.
Mandayan Monday, 06 August 2018 06:49 PM
Because of his brave act, you justify his dangerously illegal criminal act?
Sofia Monday, 06 August 2018 08:11 PM

Why would anyone carry a pistol through an airport without wrong intent?
Jaliya Monday, 06 August 2018 08:08 PM
With a 0.22 caliber short range hand gun he was not going to take down wild animals in Kenya ... I think he had some other ideas.
