Don’t provide info to army: CV tells state officials in north

Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Vignewswaran has requested all state officials in the Northern Province not to provide any information to the army without seeking his advice.

“If the army requested for any information, you tell them that I had requested you not to give them any information without my approval,” he said at an event held in Kilinochchi yesterday.

The Chief Minister said people in the north had been inconvenienced due to the three form of administration by the central government, Provincial council and also by administration of the governor.

“That is why we request for federal governance from the beginning. Apart from that we should request for self-governance for the nine provinces,” he said. (Romesh madushanka)

Yes he is part of SL, that is why he is asking why no true reconciliation is not happening in the north other than a governance where the army interferes in every part of a northerners life.

The CM is absolutely right.The South are cluless as to what type of administration is taking place in the North. The army has no right in a democratic country to get involved in civil administration in the NORTH. They should be confined to barracks.There is also the governors administration. What a mess. leave it to the elected CM

His position is legally correct and sound for civil administration is separate from military and is not accountable to the military. The civilian administration is within its rights to refuse sharing sensitive legally privileged information with a third party, the military or otherwise, without the appropriate court order.
