Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today re-issued an open warrant against former Sri Lankan Ambassador to the US, Jaliya Wickramasuriya.
The warrant was issued against the envoy over the case in which he had allegedly misappropriated USD 132,000 of State funds in the process of purchasing a building for the Sri Lankan Embassy in Washington DC, USA. (Yoshitha Perera)

What happened to the other former Ambassador who was arrested by UAE authority and was in-custody ???? Thought that he was being transferred to Colombo for the Avrudu celebrations accordingly to the news .... finish one task properly before start another. We have a police force who pretends to be the best but cannot find their pair of handcuffs to apprehend the person captured by the Interpol ... we have army soldiers who will faint on a camp drill … we have politicos who will rip-off public funds … WHAT A COUNTRY WE HAVE ?

Looks like the world does not recognize international warrants issued by Sri Lanka.
Lord Wolfstein Wednesday, 25 April 2018 10:23 AM
To be able to extradite a criminal on an international arrest warrant, the accusation must be sound and well founded. This is mostly lacking from Sri Lanka. Furthermore, the crime must also be punishable in the other country. For example, there are very strict extradition conditions inside the EU. Nevertheless, the request for extradition of the Spanish government against the former Catalan president, living in Germany, because of rebellion was rejected by a German court. According to European law, this man can now never be brought to trial in Spain because of this reproach. The offense rebellion does not exist in German law.
