The Cabinet is reported to have today rescinded the gazette notice that barred those below 35 years from obtaining three-wheeler driving licenses.
Although the Transport Ministry had issued a gazette notice on the minimum age to drive three-wheelers, the Cabinet was of the opinion that there should not be a bar on any age group. It was revealed that some 550,000 people below the age of 35 were engaged in this driving trishaws as a means of self-employment and as such should be allowed to carry out their work without any hindrance. Trishaw drivers are a law to themselves. The age restriction should be implemented, They drive at their will, take u turns or overtake at their own will never giving adequate time and space to the adjoining motorist, They will never give in to other motorists. Age of 35 should be minimum. Political courage is required to implement it,

100 % correct. The people who want to reduce the age limit let them have a ride with a youngster.

Every 3-Wheler is a potential death trap. After the constitution everyone has a right to physical integrity, which is not given with these vehicles. These vehicles do not meet any safety standards and must be abolished. The import must be stopped immediately and after a grace period all must be scrapped.

Asanka's brother Asoka whom we always hire is under 35 years of age but he is an excellent driver, dependable and trustworthy. Let the age to be fixed at 30 years to be fair by all.
