The Cabinet is reported to have rejected surreptitious attempts buy some to decriminalize homosexuality.

A new provision has been included, under women's rights, in the draft on the Human Rights Action Plan seeking not to discriminate anyone on sexual orientation. Some ministers are reported to have protested at yesterday's Cabinet meeting saying it was yet another surreptitious attempt to recognize homosexuality.

The HR Action Plan was developed through an inter-ministerial process, with the leading role played by the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

It contains proposals to address Sri Lanka's human rights responsibilities under international human rights instruments, on a voluntary basis. The process adopted to evolve the draft ensures that it represents expectations of all segments of Sri Lankan society, in keeping with the mandate received by the National Unity Government to promote good governance, rule of law, democracy, human rights, and reconciliation, and achieve durable peace. Put two men in a room and close the door, see if anyone gets pregnant. Gay mafia wants to show, they are Gay because they are born like that. But really its a choice like rape. or adultery. nobody is born Gay.Sodham and Gomrah were destroyed by God for the sin of publicly being Gay without shame. and promoting gayism.

If homo sexuality is a criminal offence our courts will have no time for anything else than punishing thousands who practice this at present. When are we going to have a cabinet with some IQ?

500 of them? Funny hey. Apart from friendly animals like Penguins, who walk in male-pairs, has anybody see any sexual activity of two animals after spending all that money over the years to find one? Let's be honest, animals behaviour is natural and non-homosexual. It is a crime to label them the ones they are not. But that should not deter humans making laws for themselves. Homosexuality in humans is real and they do need recognition but leave theanimals alone..

Whether 500 species or 5 million species, for any of the species a child is born from the union of a male and female. Every other thing is against the nature and we sympathize with their un-natural behaviour and thinking. Let them decide who their father and mother.

Lord Wolfstein Wednesday, 18 January 2017 10:25 AM

We are no longer living in the Victorian Empire. Even in prudish England the ban has long been abolished. Homosexuality has always existed and will always exist and is like heterosexuality a normal sexual practice. No one has the right to look into other people's bedrooms and adults have every right to have sex with each other no matter what kind of sex.Apart from this, I assume that more than half of all male Sri Lankans are at least bisexual. Even one of the highest politicians in this country is gay.A ban on homosexuality is against the rights of the people and opens up blackmail and denunciation. So away with this ban.

Garbashani Samatala Wednesday, 18 January 2017 10:24 AM

    Rajasinghe Wednesday, 18 January 2017 09:47 AM

we are so backward. No one need to promote homosexuality, but archaic Victorian laws criminalizing it is inhuman.

    Hiran Wednesday, 18 January 2017 09:32 AM

Sri Lanka has a long way to go to realize that there are different sexual orientations among humans. It is not unnatural. In fact homosexual orientation have been observed among nearly 500 species in the animal kingdom and keeps growing. What ever attitude people hold towards homosexuals they must never be persecuted for their sexual orientation.
