This probably is one of many wake up calls to a Senior Traffic DIG tasked with training and instructing the traffic police so that they can maintain road discipline among drivers in SriLanka. But alas, it will fall on deaf ears as no one in authority will care.Traffic police who turn a blind eye to thousands of small traffic offences on a daily basis should be held responsible for most of these tragic accidents because consequent to their inaction, drivers lose all sense of fear of the law and drive like maniacs. If the traffic police diligently follow the law and impose fines all over the island, every hour the government would earn millions!! Maybe the Finance Ministry should look into this very simple solution rather than working overtime to try and find solutions to our financial woes.

Government should regulate the safety of all imported vehicles. Just see how bad this car was crashed.

Road manners are non existing mostly due to first time vehicle users. Saw a comment about regulating car safety. No car is safe. Seen 40 mil cars broken in two.

    Milinda Friday, 01 September 2017 07:25 PM

Car safety regulations and traffic rule violation fines should be improved a lot in this country. one comment says the car safety regulations aren't important since he has seen a 40 mil car broken in to two...LoL...

People in Sri lanka love to attend funerals and weddings and then end up in the box...when they are too drunk to too sleepy to drive back... We should get used to the habit of taking taxi if not qualified to drive in good conscious and using of seat belts is not practiced either.

Motor Patrol : This should mean moving along with the traffic and not standing behind a tree hiding to catch a vehicle crossing the double line. Why are these Motor patrolmen given such high powered Suzuki bikes, is it to be parked behind a Tree??

    ANTON Saturday, 02 September 2017 09:52 AM

THAT IS WHY THEY ARE CALLED TREE - FIX POLICE.
