The bus lane from Ayurveda jnc to Borella on Cotta road was used by regular traffic last morning. As usual the Police too did not take action (all action for a week). The 3 lanes from Tickell road to borella junc has now been marked out as two. There seems to be no common sense in marking out some of these lanes. I believe there should be no bus lane from tickell road to borella junc to avoid a tail back of traffic on cotta road.

There is a regulation that says a child has to go to the government school, which is near his residence. If this rule were adhered to, there would be much less traffic congestion and much less air pollution. Therefore, school transport should be prohibited to government schools. Private schools should have their own buses and only these should be approved for school transport. In other countries the children are walking to their schools, going by bicycles or using the public transport system.

Im not so sure that school children and private bus compliment each other that well, sounds like there may be some risk to the kids

When Uni-flow system was introduced some time back, there were negative responses/attitudes but it is proven that the system has immensely benefitted. Though late introduction of Bus Lanes is a welcome step to improve the flow of vehicles engaged in mass transport. As the next step fines should be introduced for motorists who deliberately flout the system during peak hours.

Good luck going to school tomorrow. i spent more than 45 minutes going through Battaramulla rajagiriya section last week and it was pretty congested because of the bus lane. This is without the school traffic.
