BJP happy over the number of votes secured

19 August 2015 03:05 pm - 10     - {{hitsCtrl.values.hits}}

Bodu Jana Peramuna (BJP) said today winning parliamentary seats was not their main objective of contesting the general elections but to prove their strength as a party capable of promoting its ideology among the citizens.

BJP leader and Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera said they had formed the BJP just two days prior to the dissolution of the parliament.

"Our prime objective was centered on encouraging and reviving the Buddhist culture among the Sinhala-Buddhist community," he said. “We were keen on promoting our party’s vision and mission among the people and the amount of votes we obtained was encouraging” he said. (Yoshitha Perera)
