Democratic Party Leader Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka would contest the general elections from the Colombo District, while his wife Anoma Fonseka would contest from the Gampaha District under the flaming torch symbol, the party said.

Ananda Manawadu, the General Secretary of the party said the nominations lists for the two districts was handed over today and said the lists for other districts would be handed over tomorrow or on Monday.

“However, we will not contest in the Jaffna and the Vanni Districts. Nalin Pradeep will lead the Colombo team, while Anurudda Lekamge will lead the team from Gampaha,” he said.

He said Colombo-East Organiser Dhanuna Thilakaratne and Ranmali Gunawardena would contest from Colombo, while Indika Bandara and Nihal Antony would contest from Gampaha.

The campaign of the party had been scheduled to be launched on Saturday in Hambantota, he said.(Darshana Sanjeewa)

Sarath Fonseka has an highly overestimated self esteem.At least last time with DNA he managed to get elected.Going alone he is only marching towards political oblivion.Shows political immaturity.Let him at least enjoy the perks attached to his Field Marshall title.(for how long if MR returns to power ?)
