Three SLFP ministers to contest from UNP

Lands Minister M.K.D.S. Gunawardena,Ports and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranatunga and Cultural Affairs Minister Nandimithra Ekanayake are considering contesting the forthcoming general elections from the United National Party, according political sources.

It is also reported that they had held discussions with former president Chandrika Kumaratunga about their future political arrangements.

They have decided not to contest as SLFPers, if Mahinda Rajapaksa contests as a UPFAnominee, as they had supported Maithripala Sirisena at the last presidential election.(Ranjan Kasthuri)

If you are serious you can create a culture of genuine good governance irrespective who cracks the whip of the party. Those who are greedy of appointments are concerned of who their leader is. All those shipping people are put on notice. Pulll up your socks and do the right thing by the country if not you will be pushed out.

It is very clear that this election is the turning point of the country. Since the UNP was in opposition for 20 years many of the senior leaders crossed over to UPFA gov for benefits. So it is evident now UNP does not have many seniors. In the other hand, UPFA had the biggest MP camp in the history of it. So the competition would be very tough. These MPs will not top the list in their districts or might not make it at all. If My3 appoint only 25 ministers, they will be sitting in the gallery even in the UPFA side.

cont .... But in case if UNP wins they will be highlighted and they will say that they brought the victory to UNP even though these 3 really cant crack 30,000 votes total from UPFA. Arjuna never had a electorate. Nandimithra from Raththota, MKDS from Trinco. These are good places to follow up to see their contribution. So if UNP wins, they all will be ministers for sure. Otherwise will be in the opposition gallery. So simply.. Nothing to lose!! :D This is the only shot for them!
