President Maithripala Sirisena has called for the dissolution of parliament a short while ago, the Daily Mirror learns.

The government printing department confirmed they have been instructed to print the government gazette pertaining to the dissolution of parliament.

The dissolution of parliament was set to take place after the enactment of the 20th Amendment, but was speculated to take place today (26) after passing of 20A proved impracticable because it did not receive the required two thirds majority in parliament. (Yohan Perera)

    jeff Friday, 26 June 2015 09:10 PM

OMG! .Finally MY3 was able to do this. His credibility would have been enhanced if he has done this on April 23. Chapikaya and Rajitha clowns misled MY3. 62 laks voted to MY3 to eliminate MR and his theives and not to give leadership and patranage SLFP. UNP will get 2/3 majority this time. Let the 20th amendment and chamika goes to dusbin.

    J R Rajasinghe Friday, 26 June 2015 09:13 PM

End of Yahapalanaya joke. People will decide.

    Bala Friday, 26 June 2015 09:36 PM

This is the best for the country with each MP pulling for their own benefit or to cover their past misdeeds and not for the country. Hope a new set of MPs with country first attitude will be in the next Parliament - does not matter which label.

    George Friday, 26 June 2015 09:36 PM
