The special commodity levy imposed on dhal was reduced by Rs. 4.75 from mid night today, the Finance Ministry said.

A spokesman from the Ministry told Daily Mirror that this decision was taken to reduce the burden on the people to counter the price hike in the global market.

Meanwhile, the special commodity levy for palm oil had been increased from Rs 90 to Rs 110 per kilogram.

The Minister said this step was taken to help the local edible oil producers. (Yohan Perera)

so when levy reduced by 25 cents, what will be the effect of market price? still 25cent of local market value /kg? so if its 25cent/kg of local value, will consumers get 25cent back from shops?
