Five MPs removed from SLFP CC

Five SLFP Parliamentarians had been removed from the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party with immediate effect, party sources said.

Accordingly, former ministers Bandula Gunawardane, S.M.Chandrasena, T.B.Ekanayake, Rohitha Abeygunawardane and Salinda Dissanayake were removed by party chairman Maithripala Sirisena.

The letters informing their removal had been received today. However, these MPs said that there were no reasons given for their removal.

“I received the letter saying that the Central Committee of the SLFP, which met recently, has decided to remove me from the Central Committee, but no reason was given,” MP Gunawardane told the Daily Mirror Online.

MP Dissanayake speaking to the Daily Mirror Online said that no explanation had been given as to why he was removed from the Central Committee and added that he was shocked at the decision as he was engaged in politics representing the SLFP for over 40 years.

He is among the SLFP MPs who are backing the call for former President Rajapaksa to be made the PM candidate of the UPFA.

Please be aware that President Maithreepala Sirisena is Head of the current government and if any from SLFP or any other party criticize the activities or go against the government is clearly considered as criticizing or going against President himself. SLFPs are acting like babies and they also think President is a fool to not to understand. There are MPs who criticize the government,saying "We are not criticizing President but government." These MPs are either ignorant or they think President is ignorant. Please be careful when you criticize the government as they might not get nomination from SLFP to contest the up coming General election.

Because, SLFP need to protect unity and integrity. It is good decision. What ever issues had with among the leaders they should appear common agenda with existing leadership. SLFP is not a private property of any individualist or group. That is peoples, party which initiated by the late Hon. Mr Bandaranayake. all the leaders must be respected basic principles of SLFP which was introduced by their foundering leaders.
